จุดเด่น จุดด้อย ในการทํางาน

คำถามหิน คำถามไปตัดสินเลย เวลาไปสัมภาษณ์งาน

คือ “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”

“จุดเด่น และจุดด้อยของคุณคืออะไร?”

ถ้าตอบได้ดี ก็มีชัยไปมากกว่าครึ่ง แต่ถ้าตอบไม่ชัดเจน ก็อาจจะพลาดตัวอย่างสำคัญไป

เพราะฉะนั้น แอดมินจึงนำตัวอย่างจากบทเรียนในคอร์ส

เรียนอังกฤษ ติดเทอร์โบ พูดได้โปรเติบโตในงาน มาฝากค่ะ

วิธี เทคนิค และตัวอย่างประโยคที่ใช้ตอบคำถาม “What are your strengths and weaknesses?” ให้เป๊ะ และปัง

Strength (s) ข้อดี/จุดเด่น

มาเริ่มต้นกันที่ Strength(s) หรือ จุดเด่นกันค่ะ

ก่อนที่จะตอบคำถามนี้ ให้ลองทำการบ้านก่อนนิดนึงค่ะ

โดยการไป Research ว่าคุณสมบัติที่บริษัทนั้น ๆ ต้องการ และมีอยู่ในตัวคุณคืออะไร

อาจจะดูจาก Job Description (ขอบเขตหน้าที่ และความรับผิดชอบงาน) หรือจะเป็น Company Core Values (ค่านิยมองค์กร)

และลองศึกษาเพิ่มเติมถึง Company culture (วัฒนธรรมองค์กร) ด้วยค่ะ

ไม่ใช่แค่เกี่ยวกับเรื่องงาน แต่ศึกษาเพิ่มเติมไปถึงลักษณะนิสัยของพนักงานที่องค์กรมี หรือต้องการจะมี

ตัวอย่างโครงสร้างประโยคที่สามารถใช้ในการบอกถึงจุดเด่นของเราได้

• I am + (adjective).
• I have + (noun).
• My greatest/ one of my greatest strengths + (noun).

โดยให้เลือกจุดเด่นมาเติม เป็นจุดเด่นที่ตรงกับความสามารถของเรา และตรงกับความต้องการของตำแหน่งนั้น ๆ

How to not sound “arrogant”

เทคนิคพูดถึงจุดเด่นของตัวเอง แบบไม่ให้ดูโอ้อวดเกินจริง

1. ใช้ประโยคที่พูดถึงจุดเด่น ให้ดูถ่อมตัว

ตัวอย่างเช่น

• I would like to think that I am….
• I owe my (quality) to the success of ….

2. Provide proof  บอกถึงหลักฐาน/ ตัวอย่างเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นจริง

บอกถึงประสบการณ์ หรือสิ่งที่เคยทำมา เพื่อที่จะเป็นหลักฐาน พิสูจน์ได้ว่า

เรามีความสามารถนี้จริง ๆ  เพราะได้มาจากประสบการณ์ที่เราได้เคยทำมา

จะสามารถเพิ่มความน่าเชื่อถือให้กับจุดเด่นนั้น ๆ ได้

ตัวอย่างประโยค

I have learned from my experience working in this industry that I … + (หลักฐาน)

I have learned from my experience running this program that I … + (หลักฐาน)

I have learned from my experience implementing this project that I … + (หลักฐาน)

3. Be specific ให้ระบุคุณสมบัตินั้นแบบเจาะจงมากที่สุดเท่าที่จะทำได้

อธิบายเพิ่มเติม ลงรายละเอียดว่ามันมีผลกับงานอย่างไร

และตรงกับคุณสมบัติของงานที่เราไปสัมภาษณ์ หรือบริษัทนั้น ๆ ต้องการอย่างไรบ้าง

ตัวอย่างประโยค

• I was able to…+ (ผลงาน)
• I learned from … and successfully … + (ผลงาน)

4. Choose words wisely ให้เลือกใช้คำอย่างชาญฉลาด

ตัวอย่างเช่น

• Friendly (เป็นกันเอง) ให้เปลี่ยนเป็นคำว่า team player (เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของทีม)
• Talkative (เป็นคนพูดเก่ง) ให้เปลี่ยนเป็นคำว่า good communicator (เป็นนักสื่อสารที่ดี)

ตัวอย่างของประโยคบอกจุดเด่น Strength (s)

ตัวอย่างที่ 1

“My strength is my flexibility to handle change. As customer service manager at my last job, I was able to turn around a negative working environment and develop a very supportive team.”

ประโยคที่บอกจุดเด่นของเราคือ

“My strength is my flexibility to handle change.”

ส่วนประโยคที่เหลือเป็นการ Providing Proof หรือการให้หลักฐานเพิ่มความน่าเชื่อถือ ว่าเรามีจุดเด่นเช่นนี้จริง ๆ จากประสบการณ์การทำงานที่ผ่านมาของเรา

“As customer service manager at my last job, I was able to turn around a negative working environment and develop a very supportive team.”

ตัวอย่างที่ 2

“I’m a problem solver. I love taking a problem and looking at it from every angle. I enjoy work that challenges me and pushes me to think outside the box. I enjoy situations where I am allowed to work with other people to come up with creative solutions.  At my last company we were asked to come up with ways to increase our workflow without decreasing our accuracy. By really analyzing what every department was doing and finding ways to work together more efficiently, I was able to not only streamline the process, but made it possible for us to beat our previous deadline by three days with a superior product as an end result.”

คำตอบที่เป็นข้อดีจริง ๆ คือ I’m a problem solver. (ฉันเป็นนักแก้ปัญหา)

ประโยคต่อมา เป็นการ specify (เจาะจง) ให้ชัดเจนขึ้นว่า มีจุดเด่นด้านการเป็น Problem Solver (นักแก้ปัญหา) อย่างไร ที่ตรงกับคุณสมบัติของงานที่กำลังสัมภาษณ์อยู่

“I love taking a problem and looking at it from every angle. I enjoy work that challenges me and pushes me to think outside the box. I enjoy situations where I am allowed to work with other people to come up with creative solutions.”

และประโยคที่เหลือเป็นการ Providing Proofหรือให้ข้อมูลหลักฐานที่เป็นรูปธรรม เพื่อให้ผู้สัมภาษณ์ได้เข้าใจ และเชื่อได้มากขึ้นว่าเรามีจุดแข็งตรงนี้จริง ๆ

“At my last company we were asked to come up with ways to increase our workflow without decreasing our accuracy. By really analyzing what every department was doing and finding ways to work together more efficiently, I was able to not only streamline the process, but made it possible for us to beat our previous deadline by three days with a superior product as an end result.”

Weakness(es) ข้อเสีย/จุดด้อย

เทคนิคการพูดถึง Weakness หรือจุดด้อยของตัวเองในการสัมภาษณ์งาน

1. Choose ones that do not directly impact the job เลือกจุดด้อยที่ไม่ได้กระทบกับงานที่กำลังสมัครโดยตรง
2. Show how you have overcome them บอกว่าเราสามารถก้าวข้ามจุดด้อยนั้นได้อย่างไร

สามารถเลือกคำที่ใช้เป็น Weakness ได้จาก Cheat Sheet

ที่ดาวน์โหลดได้ในคอร์ส English for career development เลยนะคะ

เช่น

Self-criticism โทษตัวเอง วิจารณ์ตัวเอง

Being too critical of yourself  โทษหรือกดดันตัวเองมากเกินไป

Attempting to please everyone อยากจะทำให้ทุกคนพอใจไปหมด

ตัวอย่าง

“Sometimes, I spend more time than necessary on a task or take on tasks personally that could easily be delegated to someone else.  Although I’ve never missed a deadline, it is still an effort for me to know when to move on to the next task, and to be confident when assigning others work. In my recent position, I implemented a project management tool that allowed me to easily oversee the progress of all the tasks I assigned, which helped me feel much more comfortable delegating work.”

ประโยคที่บอกจุดด้อยของเราคือ

ประโยคถัดมา ให้บอกว่าจุดด้อยนี้ ไม่ได้กระทบกับงานที่กำลังจะสมัคร

Show they do not impact the job

สุดท้าย ให้จบด้วยการบอกเล่ากับผู้สัมภาษณ์ว่า เรารู้นะ ว่าเรามีจุดด้อยอะไร

Show how you overcome them

TIP:

ในกรณีที่ผู้สัมภาษณ์ถามคำถามว่า “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”

คือให้ตอบทั้งข้อดี และข้อเสียพร้อมกันในคำถามเดียวกันเลย

เราไม่จำเป็นที่จะต้องเริ่มต้นตอบด้วย Strengths  (ข้อดี) เสมอไปก็ได้

เราอาจจะเริ่มต้นด้วย Weakness (ข้อด้อย) ก่อน แล้วมาจบอย่างสวยงามด้วย Strength (ข้อดี) ก็ได้เช่นเดียวกันค่ะ
