สุนัขจิ้งจอกกับนกกระสา ภาษาอังกฤษ

At one time the Fox and the Stork were on visiting terms and seemed very good friends. So the Fox invited the Stork to dinner, and for a joke put nothing before her but some soup in a very shallow dish.
กาลครั้งหนึ่ง สุนัขจิ้งจอกกับนกกระสาต่างไปมาหาสู่กันเป็นประจำ และดูเหมือนว่าพวกมันเป็นเพื่อนที่ดีต่อกัน จนกระทั่งสุนัขจิ้งจอกได้เชิญนกกระสาให้มาร่วมรับประทานอาหารเย็นด้วยกัน และเพื่อเป็นการเล่นตลก (แกล้งนกกระสา) มันไม่มีสิ่งใดมาเลี้ยงนกกระสาเลย นอกจากน้ำซุปที่ใส่ไว้ในจานทรงตื้นเท่านั้น

This the Fox could easily lap up, but the Stork could only wet the end of her long bill in it, and left the meal as hungry as when she began. “I am sorry the soup is not to your liking”, said the Fox.
สุนัขจิ้งจอกสามารถใช้ลิ้นตวัดกินซุปได้อย่างง่ายดาย แต่สำหรับนกระสาทำได้แค่เอาปลายจงอยปากที่ยาวของมันลงไปในซุปเท่านั้น และปล่อยอาหารมือนั้นเหลือไว้เหมือนกับความหิวของมันที่ยังคงอยู่ “ฉันขอโทษด้วยนะ เธอคงไม่ชอบซุป” สุนัขจิ้งจอกกล่าว

“Pray do not apologize,” said the Stork. “I hope you will return this visit, and come and dine with me soon.”
“ขอร้องล่ะเธอไม่ต้องขอโทษหรอก” นกกระสาพูด “ฉันหวังว่าคราวหน้าคงเปลี่ยนกัน เธอมารับประทานอาหารมื้อเย็นกับฉันบ้างในเร็วๆ นี้นะ”

So a day was appointed when the Fox should visit the Stork; but when they were seated at table all that was for their dinner was contained in a very long-necked jar with a narrow mouth, in which the Fox could not insert his snout, so all he could manage to do was to lick the outside of the jar.
จนกระทั่งถึงวันนัดหมายที่สุนัขจิ้งจอกมาเยือนนกกระสาบ้าง, แต่เมื่อทั้งสองนั่งลงที่โต๊ะ อาหารทั้งหมดที่นำมาเลี้ยงในมื้อนั้น ถูกบรรจุไว้ในเหยือกคอยาวและปากแคบใบหนึ่ง, ซึ่งหมาจิ้งจอกไม่สามารถเอาแม้แต่จมูกของมันใส่ลงไปได้, สิ่งเดียวที่มันสามารถทำได้คือ การเลียที่ด้านนอกของเหยือก

“I will not apologize for the dinner,” said the Stork
“ฉันจะไม่กล่าวคำขอโทษ สำหรับอาหารมื้อนี้หรอกนะ” นกกระสากล่าว

สุนัขจิ้งจอกกับนกกระสา

กาลครั้งหนึ่งนานมาแล้ว… มีสุนัขจิ้งจอกกับนกกระสา เพิ่งเริ่มคบหากับได้ไม่นาน และมันสองตัวมักจะไปหามาสู่กันเป็นประจำ และดูเหมือนว่าพวกมันจะเป็นเพื่อนที่ดีต่อกันได้ จนกระทั่งวันหนึ่งสุนัขจิ้งจอกได้เชิญนกกระสามาร่วมรับประทานอาหารเย็นที่บ้าน

แต่สุนัขจิ้งจอกกลับแกล้งนกกระสาด้วยการไม่มีสิ่งใดมาเลี้ยงต้อนรับเลย นอกจากน้ำซุปที่ใส่ในจานแบน ๆ ซึ่งวางไว้อยู่ตรงหน้านกกระสาเพียงอย่างเดียวเท่านั้น สุนัขจิ้งจอกสามารถใช้ลิ้นตวัดกินซุปได้อย่างง่ายดาย แต่ในทางกลับกันนกกระสาทำได้เพียง ใช้ปลายจงอยปากของมันจุ่มลงไปในน้ำซุป นกกระสายังรู้สึกหิวแต่ก็ต้องปล่อยให้อาหารมื้อนั้นเหลือไว้

แล้วสุนัขจิ้งจอกก็เอ่ยขึ้นว่า “ข้าขอโทษนะ เจ้าคงจะไม่ชอบน้ำซุป” “ไม่ต้องขอโทษข้าหรอก” นกกระสาตอบ “ข้าหวังว่าอีกไม่นานเจ้าจะไปเยี่ยมข้าเป็นการตอบแทน และรับประทานอาหารมื้อเย็นกับข้าบ้าง” ทั้งสองจึงมีการกำหนดวันนัดกันขึ้นเพื่อที่สุนัขจิ้งจอกจะได้ไปเยี่ยมนกกระสาบ้าง

เมื่อวันนัดหมายมาถึงมันทั้งสองนั่งลงที่โต๊ะ อาหารทั้งหมดที่นำมาเลี้ยงนั้นถูกบรรจุอยู่ในเหยือกทรงสูงปากแคบ ซึ่งสุนัขจิ้งจอกไม่สามารถเอาปากใหญ่ ๆ ของมันใส่ลงไปได้ ดังนั้นสิ่งเดียวที่มันจะทำได้คือเลียที่ขอบด้านนอกของหยือก และนกกระสาก็กล่าวว่า “ข้าจะไม่ขอโทษสำหรับอาหารเย็นมื้อนี้หรอกนะ” แล้วสิ่งที่สุนัขได้รับในวันนี้ก็ทำให้มันนึกถึงสิ่งที่เคยทำไว้กับนกกระสา

The Fox one day thought of a plan to amuse himself at the expense of the Stork, at whose odd appearance he was always laughing.

“You must come and dine with me today,” he said to the Stork, smiling to himself at the trick he was going to play. The Stork gladly accepted the invitation and arrived in good time and with a very good appetite.

For dinner the Fox served soup. But it was set out in a very shallow dish, and all the Stork could do was to wet the very tip of his bill. Not a drop of soup could he get. But the Fox lapped it up easily, and, to increase the disappointment of the Stork, made a great show of enjoyment.

The hungry Stork was much displeased at the trick, but he was a calm, even-tempered fellow and saw no good in flying into a rage. Instead, not long afterward, he invited the Fox to dine with him in turn. The Fox arrived promptly at the time that had been set, and the Stork served a fish dinner that had a very appetizing smell. But it was served in a tall jar with a very narrow neck. The Stork could easily get at the food with his long bill, but all the Fox could do was to lick the outside of the jar, and sniff at the delicious odor. And when the Fox lost his temper, the Stork said calmly:
