    Awsome lens

Exceptionally sharp lens. Don't know if it's a good value retail, but for $550 used it's a steal. Finally a lens that will get the most out of a D7200. Tried the 18-300, 18-200, and 18-140. All were to soft for my taste, the 18-140 is the closest in sharpness. This lens is way sharper at comparable lengths. Sharp wide open and good in low light. Replaced my Sigma 17-50 2.8 with no regrets. Like the added range an the VR compensates for it being a little slower at 50mm, plus I get an addition 30mm on the long end. Great all around lens, and if I need longer I have a 70-300 af-p VR which for the price is an outstanding lens. Highly recommend both. Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
  • Sharp, fast, and great range!

It's sharp, fast focusing, and the range from 16 to 80 mm makes is an easy choice. I can get great photos of my grandkids, and turn and take an awesome landscape without changing to a wide angle lens. Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
  • The best Nikon lens for an APSC sensor camera...

This lens with the VR built in covers about 60% of all images required on a wedding, or for all around use. The 2mm extra width comes in handy so many times and saves a shot when there is no more room to back up, and having a lens with a 2.8 f stop really helps shooting in low light situations. I used it on a band performing with no stage lights and got great results shooting at 3200 ISO. The 80MM end is a great portrait lens, allowing one to shoot at a very pleasant f4 with a nice bokeh, that wide open. I know its a spendy lens, but I recommend it if you have the funds, as I am shooting it on a Nikon D7500 with excellent results Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
  • Nikon's best all around DX zoom lens ....

I would NOT buy this lens new, but if you can get it used for somewhat less, it is worth it. I hate that Nikon prices this lens so ridiculously expensive. First of all, it is SHARP. There is noticeable barrel distortion at the wide angle but is correctable in body or in post process. Build quality is OK, about same as Nikon's other consumer DX lenses, i.e. 18-140, 16-85, or 18-200. Bokeh is nothing to write home about but one wouldn't get this lens for bokeh. I hated Nikon's ancient no-VR 17-55mm. I do not recommend that lens at all. I had Sigma 17-50mm and it was OK but I found the range limiting, although constant f 2.8 was great. I had original 16-85 and still have 18-200 but I find additional 2 degrees of wide angle more useful and original 16-85 was just OK with sharpness. 18-140 can be had for much less, and even 18-200 is very reasonable price-wise, but I like this lens best among them. It is marginally sharpest among all Nikon DX lenses, even better than ancient 17-55. More compact and lighter than 18-200, better all around than 18-140. Better than Sigma's 17-70. This lens is almost permanently mounted on my D7200, which I prefer over D7500. Nikon 16-80 > 18-200 > 18-140 > 18-300 > Sigma 17-50 > Sigma 17-70 > Nikon 18-55 AF-P > Nikon 17-55 > Nikon 18-105 (CRAP! with flimsy plastic lens mount for such a large lens) Read full review Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned

Took incredible pictures, very versatile!

I bought this lens so I would have something versatile enough for carrying around a big city (London) and being able to get both wide and zoomed shots. It was WONDERFUL for all the street photography I did, but do wish it was just a tad faster for indoor shots. Overall, if you're going on a trip and want to be able to do it all without changing between lenses, this one is great... The Vibration Reduction (VR) also means your pictures are absolutely tack sharp!
