If it is a simple Xianxia book without that much detail, this is the perfect book to simply spend your time on. As it is a very busy period for me, I wanted to pick a book that really does not make me stop my work and think hardly upon. With the amount of books on Chinese Heavenly gods I've read the past year, I am pretty sure I can draw up my own thesis by now.
As many have mentioned, it is truly quite hard to find who is the true ML but as the story progresses we are indeed given small hints to who it can be. Even I was confused as we are given a hint as to another. I am truly looking forward as to who will come victorious. As for our MC, he is one of the most adorable MC's I've read about. He lives his life just passing the days but you cannot hate him for being lazy. As a matter of fact you can't call it him being lazy either. He accidentally stumbled upon and gained immortality and he's forever stumbling upon all his decisions. There seems to be small hints of yearning or a one-sided love but personally I felt as if it might not be one-sided completely. The romance is very slow burn. More than half the story in, we're not given a definite answer but the joy of reading this book is clearly unraveeling the layers to find it. Till then, adios.

It's my pleasure to read this xianxia story. At first, it's quite hard for me to get into this story maybe because I'm not familiar with it, yet. I don't know any background and everything seems too fast. Until I read and read, then I can connect with the characters.

Song Yao our protagonist.. such a lonely character, but also easy-going and cute. He was sent by Jade Emperor from Heaven to ruin the lovebond between Nanming Emperor & Tianshu. Seriously, I was skeptical with the story that who is the Hero? Hahaha and I will not tell you guys *oops*
Romance.. very subtle, too subtle for me. lol! But when the cute time between the main leads happen, they made me blush :)) A Beautiful xianxia romance that include reincarnation, friendship and cute, cute boys. Simple at time, and yes Romantic at another time.

charming! I'm fond of Dafengguaguo's usual style, light superficial narrators who clamp down on their emotions. The plagiarized three life three worlds etc was infuriating and awful and doesn't deserve its everything.

This had way less angst than I expected but I did like it. Song Yao (MC) was honestly a pretty funny narrator because he was a person with terrible luck in love and was destined to be alone for the rest of his life. The ML took a long time to be revealed and I was quite worried that the ML wasn't the character that I was thinking about.. but luckily Heng Wen ended up being the ML because if it wasn't him, I would've flipped the table. I really liked HW and thought that he and SY were evenly matched so I was glad that the author made them the main CP even though they didn't get together until the end of the story..
Subsequently, the romance was extremely slow to build. Well I guess I should say that the romance for the first 99% of the book is quite nonexistent unfortunately. I say 'quite' because it's not like there wasn't any romance At All but the interactions between SY and HW were more like SY pining for him and there was something like the element of unrequited love. There was light flirting and even a kiss they shared but I wanted more 😂
To be perfectly honest, I was confused about what was going on while reading the first 10-15 chapters but after that the story picks up pace and progresses more smoothly. The fated connections between SY and the other characters that were explained towards the end of the novel made me feel a little heartache because SY just *couldn't* get a break. And when SY basically sacrificed himself to save Tian Shu and Xuan Li because he wanted to "fix things", I nearly cried because it was really heartbreaking.
I would've liked this better if it was longer maybe, because it felt way too short for me. And the fact that SY and HW only got together in literally the last few paragraphs of the story disappointed me a little, hence the 3.5 star rating.

หรือแม้กระทั่ง ใครเป็นพระเอกนายเอกของเรื่องกัน โอว่าจุดนี้ก็เป็นอีกจุดที่ผู้เขียนอยากให้เราลุ้นเล่น เพราะฉะนั้นโอไม่บอกละกันนะคะ ฮ่าๆ
ในความเรื่อยมันชวนให้อยากรู้ว่าจะมีอะไรข้างหน้ารอเราอยู่
สำหรับด้านความรัก เรื่องนี้จัดว่าไม่หวาน แต่ก็มีอะไรชวนจั๊กจี้หัวใจบ้างเหมือนกัน (โอว่าสายนอร์มอลที่อาจจะตะขิดตะขวงใจกับบางอย่างยังสามารถอ่านได้เลยค่ะ) ยังไงดีล่ะ คือพวกเขาจะไม่มานั่งจีบกัน ข้ารักเจ้า เจ้ารักข้า แต่ใช้การกระทำบ่งบอกความรู้สึก บทพิสูจน์ความรักในเรื่องก็ดีเลยแหละ เป็นคู่ที่โอชอบนะ

นิสัยซ่งเหยา คือ เป็นคนสบายๆ ไม่ค่อยทุกข์ร้อนกับอะไรง่าย ไม่ซับซ้อน จิตใจดี เป็นคนที่ทำให้คนชอบไม่ยากเลยนะโอว่า ฝังใจกับใครหรืออะไรแล้วก็จะไม่เปลี่ยนไปเป็นอื่น ทุ่มเทให้เป้าหมาย
แนวเทพเซียน ตัวละครไม่มาก ซ่อนความลับพอสมควร
โอชอบเล่มแรกมากกว่าเล่มสอง เพราะรู้สึกว่าวิธีเล่าเรื่องจิกกัดนี่เด่นดี ส่วนเล่มสองเรื่องจะเริ่มดราม่า ถือว่าไม่มากนะ แต่โอก็ร้องไห้ ไม่รู้ทำไม ช่วงที่ชอบที่สุดในเรื่องคือช่วงแรกและช่วงสุดท้าย

Văn phong vừa chua vừa ngọt. Thâm tình sâu xa khéo phải nghĩ ngợi vài lần mới thấu hết. Sách hay, đọc 2 lang nhưng cảm xúc vẫn vẹn nguyên. Diễn biến tình cảm vừa đủ không sến súa nhưng cũng không nhạt nhẽo. Thích văn phong của Đại Phong Quát Quá !

I must say that I was quite disappointed by this novel overall. After seeing it receive so much praise, I thought I would absolutely adore this, but I was left feeling very meh about the whole experience.
There were so many interesting ideas, and there was so much potential for a love story that could stand above so many others, yet I felt that it was squandered by poor writing choices. The plot leaves a lot to be desired. Too many things are randomly introduced, and leaves everything feeling insanely messy. I also feel like the romance could've been handled way better. So much of their relationship is told and never shown, at times it feels like they aren't even romantically in love, and instead they just have a strong friendship. One of the best things about reading or watching a romance, is being able to see two characters fall in love, and that was just absent from this novel. It doesn't help that
Even with those grievances though, I still enjoyed things about this story, especially the last 20ish chapters. They didn't completely fix all of my irritations, but it definitely helped. I mean, I even teared up and cried a bit towards the ending, which was quite nice and overall pretty satisfying. Lastly, the main couple, while not well established all the time, were quite sweet together, and really made my heart feel warm. I hope that in the future we can receive a live action drama adaptation, if done right it could be even better than the book!

A very light xianxia novel that was a bit confusing in both the plot and romance. I managed to finish it in one night, so it's probably the shortest Chinese novel I've read all year.
The story follows Song Yao, a human scholar who accidentally ate a high quality pill dropped from the heavens and ascended as an immortal. At the beginning of the story, he's tasked by the head of gods to descend to the human world and set up love tribulations for two gods, Tian Shu Xingjun and Nan Ming Dijun, who had fallen in love and were sent down to the mortal world as punishment.
Most of the story revolves around Song Yao's attempts in the mortal world to disrupt the fated relationship between Tian Shu and Nan Ming. He's helped by two other gods, as he is in a mortal body and doesn't have much access to his heavenly powers.
I had a hard time getting into this story, as there are a lot of names and titles thrown at you right from the beginning. I kept on forgetting who was who and found myself having to go back to refresh my memory of the characters.
I'm pretty sure the author did this on purpose, but both the story and the romance was written in a somewhat vague manner. I was confused throughout the course of the story, and I wasn't the only one, as many commenters expressed similar confusion. The biggest example of this is that it's not clear who the ML is for at least half the story. Song Yao would think fondly about one character, and in the next chapter, think or do something with the other character, so that kept the readers guessing. It doesn't help that the story is written in first person from Song Yao's POV. The first person narrative threw me off, as it's not common in danmei novels, and I don't think it worked well for this story.
The romance, even once it's established, was very lackluster. I was a bit disappointed that there were no sweet moments. Soon after their relationship is confirmed, one event happens after another that prevents them from spending quality time together, and next thing you know it's already the end of story.
I picked this up on a whim, but sadly this book failed to impress me.

I'm giving it 3 stars, but maybe I'm a bit generous.
It's a whole lot of nothing. I don't mind usually, but I feel like somehow, I expected a little more.
Also the whole setting of Song Yao meddling into another relationship was giving "maybe it's a love triangle thing". It kinda is, but not the one we expected, and it's petty jealousy from both sides which doesn't emphasize the relationship we are supposed to root for. So even until the end, I wasn't sure what was really up, if something else would be revealed to solidify who's the love interest exactly. I'm not saying I didn't know, but since there's still Tian Shu in the background, when it doesn't really matter in the end anyway, it's a bit confusing.
And even the main relationship, I expected more? Like I guess because Song Yao thinks it's frowned upon, they stay somewhat at arms length for a long while. But still, I expected more. They don't feel like they cannot live without each other until almost the very end.
The fox character is underdeveloped yet I was very interested in what was up with him the whole time. I would have liked more, but the minute he has fulfilled his role, and even a little before that, the care given to his development and motivation and role and such, everything goes downhill fast.
Stuff happens, some things are funny, some things are clever. But it feels like a long prelude that ends in a way that feels a little unsatisfactory, because it doesn't feel earned maybe? I almost never felt the intensity of the bound for it to become that big of a deal. It was nice and all, but other than "this person is pretty, I like them" or "I have a physical desire for them", the feelings are not expressed that much, even in the internal monologue. Or they are, but they didn't catch my attention enough for them to make a big impression on me so that I felt like everything else made sense.
Anyway, it wasn't bad, just confusing a slow paced maybe? Or more reserved, and in the "not for me" side of "reserved".

En primer lugar la trama es muy interesante, fácil de seguir y atrapante, puedo decir que hasta la mitad del libro seguía sin entender muy bien cuál era el objetivo principal de la misión de Song Yao djakajak esto debido a que había muchas cositas raras que logran ponerte en duda y provoca que uno ansíe avanzar para entender lo que está pasando 🫢 Desde el inicio hasta el final me ha mantenido enganchada, me inquietaba por seguir leyendo así que... un punto ☝️🪄 Además la historia de Song Yao en busca del amor me llegó al corazón, sobre todo más adelante cuando reencarna en varios animales y Heng Wen lo cuida... en esos caps yo era estado líquido T-T Pdta: HW es un amor ♡
Ahora bien, cada personaje tiene personalidad, no los sentí planos y menos aburridos. Aunque sí puedo decir que Nan Ming... no me cayó tan bien pero él tiene sus razones para ser un poco antipático con Song Yao (MC) así que normal jeje Eso sí, no me gustó mucho la parejita de Nan Ming x Tian Shu jghfdhwñuh ahahaha NM lo siento muy intenso y TS es masitaaa. TS debería haber quedado conmigo 🕴 En cuanto al ML, tengo que mencionar que si me costó un poquito ubicar quién era porque vi muchos ML potenciales 🤓☝️ Por mantenerme en duda con el ML, tiene un punto más ☝️🪄 Xuan Li, el zorrito fue de mi agrado y tmb le chillé en su momento... creo que hubiera sigo genial si la autora nos hubiera dado unos extras mencionando que pasó con XL y con "A-Ming" al final 🤓☝️
Hablando sobre el final, me dio justo lo que necesitaba, dolor, anhelo y me hizo chillar y novela que me hace chillar es novela que guardo en mi corazón por lo tanto tiene un punto más 🤓☝️
Además siento que la trama de PBD es diferente o bueo al menos para mí, o sea no es como que sea la besto innovación, pero por lo menos no cayó en muchos clichés de otros danmeis y justo eso andaba buscando en ese momento, así que le damos otro punto más 🤓☝️

Mc felt he was in the wrong time and place because at first, he didn't know anything - The knife is there in the beginning but is not realized until the end. The stab was slow but deep. It was a roller coaster, and a lot of times there would suddenly be an explanation for it out of nowhere. Despite it being a rollercoaster, it was quite boring. This is the first danmei I read where I actually fell asleep while reading; or felt sleepy after reading a few chapters.

A novel that made me think deeply about 缘分 and 因果. A melancholic read that has comedic undertone throughtout even the saddest part. 1 of the best novel this year. If you are looking for a subtle love story with a comedy, this might be a good choice. Short great read.

4.5 stars. I didn’t expect to like this so much, but this was such a pleasant read. Still have one more chapter to go, but the rating remains. The extras have me devastated, but there is hope!!!

This was a hard book to read since I wasn't used to the language used. It was an interesting plot where after finding out the love affair between tian shu and nan ming, the jade emperor sends them down to the mortal world to experience a love trial and implicates song yao to carry out the punishment. There were hilarious moments when he tries to carry the deeds out viciously but ended up not really viciously. His friend, Heng wen, also comes to help him out. There's more to meet the eye on why song yao is the one sent to carry out the punishment and fate is a big thing in this novel where a debt from a previous life can tie 2 people together in the next. Near the end was this big bittersweet part where I nearly cried and really wanted song yao to have his HE. Thank goodness this story ended up as HE. Only complaint is that I would have liked some extras.
Overall, it's not a long book to read so the difficult language can be excused.
